This month’s download is another track from COMBO LIMBO’s 1987 LP record. This is a lovely tune by Suzanne called “Rainy Tomorrow” about having premonitions that a love affair is not going to work out.
Glenn was influenced by the Beach Boys “Pet Sounds” LP is working out the vocal and instrumental arrangements. The harmonies are not as intricate, of course, but we do hit some nice chords behind Suzanne. Doubling bass and guitar is another trick that Brian Wilson picked up from Phil Spector. All in all, one our my favorite studio tracks from that era.
It was recorded by Al Houghton at the old Dubway Studios on 8th Avenue in NYC. Mike Roberts plays keyboard and Chris Patti plays drums.
