TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SQUEAKY CLEAN

SQUEAKY CLEAN consists of an electric guitarist, an upright/electric bassist and a drummer. All three band members sing lead and background vocals. Some of our ‘70s material is performed with a Roland MC-80 sequencer, which has a 1/4“ output jack.

We utilize a Mackie Powered Mixer/Amplifier (Model PPM 408M) with pair of Mackie C 300 speakers on Ultimate Support Stands. We put our three vocals, bass and guitar through this system. This PA has worked well in most indoor situations. It is adequate in most outdoor situations as well, assuming that we don't need to generate high volume and that the listening area is not too spread out.

If your facility prefers to have us work with your own PA system, we need three vocal mikes on boom stands or straight stands fitted with goose-necks. All three vocalists require monitors. An analog or digital-delay that can achieve a "slapback" effect is a nice enhancement.

If your facility requires close miking of all the instruments and the drum kit, please make sure that we get a good sound check and that the engineer is familiar with the sound of rock and roll from the '50s '60s and ‘70s.

The guitar amp has one 10" speaker with a Sans-Amp direct out.. The bass player uses an GK bass head and switches between the electric and upright basses with an A/B box. The upright bass has its own graphic EQ set by the bass player. You may choose to use one or two direct boxes. The drummer uses a small kit with a bass drum, snare, hi-hat, cymbal, one rack tom and one floor tom.

Some songs use monaural backing tracks played through a Numark iDJ mixer we keep onstage. This unit has RCA outs. Generally, we send only the left channel to the house; the right channel has the click track monitored directly by the drummer.

Our AV presentation (not used in outdoor situations or duo shows) consists of Macromedia Director movies run on a laptop computer and sent to a Toshiba LCD projector. We bring a 6 foot by 9 foot rear projection screen. Projection screens in most school auditoriums are not placed in the optimal position for our show. State-of-the-art theatres may have alternate methods to project the RGB output from the laptop.
